1849 Early Cox Family Antique Bible:

This old bible was printed in 1849 by The American Bible Society, New York. Between the Old and New Testament sections there are several pages dedicated to family records that lists Elijah Cox and Elizabeth Cox married Feb. 24, 1831, then continues to record the births and marriages of their offspring.

Newark, NY is in Wayne and Tioga County. There is also a newspaper obituary of Mrs. Cox who died at the age of 71 years on Dec. 29, 1885 in Newark, New York. She had 7 children. It states that her children were all at her Newark, NY funeral, except one, a daughter who lives in Michigan. We assume this to be Elizabeth Cox, who married Elijah above. Reverend A.P. Burgess presided.

Size: about 4.5 X 7 inches, 1.75 inches thick

There is also an early paper stuck in pages that states Elizabeth Bownell was born in 1814. She is most likely the first Cox, married to Elijah on Februay 24, 1831. Their daughter was Cordelia Cox, born 1832. Lydia Cox born 1835, etc…More names include: Harrison Cox, Cordelia Cox, Elijah cox, Clarison Cox or Eleanor A. Cox, (Eleanor Cox), Lydia, Caroline Davis, Josaph Sealey Cox born 1864, Walter, Elenor Cox, William Cox, Joshua Cox, Nancy Jane Cox (or Nancy Cox), James Cox, illegible name, may be Elias Cox or may be Eli Cox in census records.

A great, early Cox family history piece chocked full of great Cox family info. We found evidence of Bownell family members in the surrounding Ontario, Allegany, and Livingston County, NY. Found in Livingston, Ontario and Monroe County. Size: 5.0 in. x7.0 in.
