Item #4119
1860’s Vintage Victorian CDV Photo:
We were lucky enough to find two beautiful Civil War era identified CDV photographs of sisters Nellie Medora Clement and Abbie Maria Clement, both daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Clement of New London, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.
Info from a google book search called “A history of the town of New London, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, 1779-1899, By Edward Oliver Lord” tell us much about these girls. They were direct descendants of Benjamin Moody Clement, a pioneer born 1590 in England and died in 1658 in Haverhill, MA.
Their father, a Salisbury NH merchant was Jonathan H. Clement (born 1810) and their mother was Nancy M. Smith. There were six children, and Abbie was born in 1855, Nellie in 1859. Sadly, Abbie died in 1864 at the age of 9 years.
This is a photograph of Abby, Abbie, presumably Abigail Clement. The reverse has handwritten in old pencil script: ‘Abbie Maria Clement, dau. of Mr. & Mrs. J.H. Clement’. Note: Abbie looks to be about 5 years old in this early CDV photo. Found in Berkshire County, MA.
See number 4120 for her sister Nellie M. Clement. This is a beautiful close up portrait of her beautiful little face, wearing a headband, with braid.
